School days

Not your average school attire you ask?

Canyon had a project today where they go back in time to the Golden age and dress as one of the Statesmen. He was General Pericles. I said he needed his moms leather strapped sandals and no shirt but.......he wasn't that committed.

Auggie's class is participating in Artesian School week. Its one of the original school houses that they have kept as a historical landmark. They will spend the next week dressing, learning and experiencing school as they did 100 yeas ago.

I asked him if he was excited?
His reply...."no..... I have to square dance with the girl that picks her nose!"
Ha ha......good times.

And the award goes to.......

Just another day of the boys making us proud.

Are goofy smiles a sign of a genius?

Its not the paper the that makes us proud,
its the effort.
The printed piece of parchment will fade,
but the work ethic they are creating
will last a lifetime.

Great job boys.

Howdy all and Happy New year!

Its been some time since a post and I thought I would explain. Through the 9 years of the blog my ideas of what it should be have not really changed much. I have always looked at it like a photo album of a time in our lives. But now  I struggle with the idea of putting all of our experience on it. This past year has made me really realize how much we take for granted and the immense gift that this life really is. Social media is an awesome way to connect but I have found it to be more disconnecting in reality. There was a time when I found myself more worried about getting content for a blog post than experiencing the moment to its fullest. Once that moment is gone its gone and as much fun as it is to look back on it via photos, its the moments that you are truly "in it" that make it what it is.
Our family has always wanted to lead by example, to show people that love and family come first and how much fun you can really have with each other all the while staying true to who you really are. This has made me not worry about the day to day posts to the point I just wasn't doing any. I hope to find a balance in continuing to keep our dear friends and family in the loop through the blog and at the same time really enjoying every moment with whom ever we are blessed to be interacting with.
So with that said
Welcome 2016!
Truly live every moment
Never be afraid to speak from your heart
And realize that people need people.
So put  down the screen from time to time
Shake a hand, give a hug and look someone in the eye.
Just be in the moment.

We will do our best to keep it up and share the moments with all of you.
Much love from the Wilcox Circus to you!

There's Gold in them there hills!

Or in our case....house.
So the few times we have tried to pan for gold we have struck out.
But lucky for Auggie Santa brought him a bottle with a few flakes in it.
You just have to find them your self.

Not quite the Klondike...
more like the kitchen sink.
Pay dirt was swirled and washed.
Over and over and round and round.

and voila!
GOLD!

I must say it was pretty rewarding to see it in person.
I sent some time with my dad panning and never really found much.
but when you do it sure is cool.
I think that's part of want makes it so valued...the hunt.

Over the river.....

and through the woods,
to Grandmothers house we go!

After presents were opened we headed through the frosty trails to share the day with family.
Icy grass crackled under our tires and smiles kept us warm.
Its as close to snow as we get around here but we'll take it.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
